From March 1 to 2, Bertin will participate in the 2022 edition of the Security Research Event, taking place at La Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie, in Paris, France. The Research Security Event, organized by the European Commission, the General Secretariat of Defense and National Security and the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, deals with research and innovation to face future security challenges and contribute to Europe’s resilience against contemporary threats and crisis. Gathering the main European actors of the security sector as well as political decision-makers, SRE 2022 will host more than 800 participants who want to present technologies and research works dedicated to border management, cybersecurity, counterterrorism, and securing public events and critical sites.
The radiation portal monitor range of Bertin will be presented on the CEA stand, with the SaphyGATE G, as part of the ENTRANCE Project for EfficieNT Risk-bAsed iNspection of freight Crossing bordErs without disrupting business. Financed by a consortium of 16 European partners including Bertin, the ENTRANCE Project is led by the CEA. To cope with the increase of new threats, such as counterfeit goods, sensitive dual-use technologies and nuclear and radioactive materials, monitoring and protecting European borders is more than ever a major issue.
The SaphyGATE G portal monitor is specially designed for the detection of low activity natural or artificial radioactive sources that can be found in vehicle loads such as trucks, trains and containers. Thanks to an advanced algorithm, the portal monitor compensates the background attenuation due to vehicle shielding, thus strongly reducing the false alarm rate. Reaching high measurement performances and resisting adverse conditions, this optimized solution is perfectly suited for advanced radiation management at borders and critical sites.
